A balanced world is a better world.
But what can you do to help forge a more gender-balanced world?
• Celebrate women's achievement.
• Raise awareness against bias.
• Take action for equality
International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements, from the political to the social, whilst calling for gender equality and the 8th March aims to bring together governments, women's organisations, corporations, charities and business’ around the globe.
This year’s International Women’s Day 2019 (8th March) has a theme of #BalanceForBetter, a nod towards the growing global push for social and professional equality.
Described as a ‘business issue’, the aim of this year’s theme is to encourage gender balance in boardrooms, in the media and in wealth as a way for economies to thrive.
Here at SP Services, we’re proud to present our #BalanceForBetter, celebrating some of the women in our team.
SP Services is a global supplier of Emergency, Medical, First Aid, Paramedic and Rescue Equipment, a one-stop-shop for everything you need in an emergency supplying to the majority of the Statutory NHS Ambulance Services, Police Forces, Fire Services in the UK and to many of Her Majesties Prisons around the country. The UK Military is also a regular customer with many SP products now having their own NATO Stock Number (NSN).
Jane Wilson is our Operations Director and has been with the business for 17 years: “In that time, I have seen the company grow and develop into the market leader that it is today. Supplying medical equipment to the Armed Forces, NHS and Humanitarian organisations is an extremely rewarding industry to be involved in. During my time with the Company my experience has seen me manage a diverse team of staff working across Telesales, Customer Services, Warehouse and Distribution and Purchasing. I believe that our most valuable asset are the staff who work for us, that’s what sets us apart from our competitors.“
Amy Owens is our Finance Manager: I’ve been with SP for almost 2 years now. I‘ve really enjoyed being part of a hard working team that has made a real difference to the business. I absolutely love my job and enjoy what I do but the people are what make it what it is. We work hard and we laugh a lot, that’s our motto.
And under the banner of #BalanceForBetter let’s hear it for our Emergency Services customers!
We feel all of this combines to foster a culture of inclusiveness at SP Services in which women joining the business have a strong base of role models to emulate in their own careers. This gives us a much wider talent pool within the business in which the free flow of ideas is encouraged and where new starters don’t feel nervous about speaking up with the innovative ideas that over the years have made the business what it is today.
